Ingredients

Ingredients
  • 1 cup of dhal
  • 1.5 cup of water
  • 1/2 tsp of tumeric
  • 1 tsp of salt
  • 2 tsp of Astra
  • 3 cloves of garlic thinly sliced
  • 1 green chilli chopped
  • 1/4 tsp of chilli powder
  • 1 tsp of curry powder
  • 2 dried chillies
  • Corriander for garnish
  • 3 Red onion chopped
  • 1/2 cups of coconut milk (first squeezed)
  • mustard Seeds
  • Rampe / Curry leaves picked
  • pinch of roasted curry powder
  • 5 onions

Instructions

Method
  1. Boil 1 Cup of Dhal, 1 Tsp. of Chili Powder, 1/2 Tsp. of Turmeric Powder, 1 Tsp. of Salt, 1 Tsp. of Curry Powder, 1 sliced Green Chili, 3 sliced Garlic 3 Cloves, and 3 diced Red Onions in Water 1 1/2 Cups using a clay pot.
  2. Add 1/2 Cup of Coconut Milk (First Squeeze) and let it simmer.
  3. On a separate pan, heat 1 Tbsp. of Astra and fry the Mustard Seeds, Curry Leaves, and Rampe Leaves. To this, add the chopped Onion and mix. Finally, add 2 - 3 Dried Chilies (soaked in salt water and chopped) and mix.
  4. Add the tempered spice mix to the dhal and mix well.
  5. Top with a pinch of roasted Curry Powder and serve.
