A quick and easy dish to cook, these legumes are tasty and fun for healthy eating. Here’s how you prepare a Sri Lankan inspired tempered beans.

Ingredients

  • 50 grams of Beans cut into quarters
  • 200 grams of Bombay onions
  • 6 cloves garlic finely sliced
  • 1.25 grams of tumeric powder
  • 2.5 grams of cumin Powder
  • 1.25 gram of sweet cumin powder
  • 5 grams of Corriander powder
  • 15 grams of chilli powder
  • 15 grams of Maldives fish flakes
  • 2.5 grams of Fengureek
  • 30 grams of Astra
  • 1 tomato chopped into large pieces
  • 25 grams of Rampe (Pandan)
  • 75 ml of coconut milk
  • curry leaves picked
  • salt pepper to taste

Instructions

Method
  1. In a large bowl, mix together with the beans, all the spice powders, onion, garlic, curry leaves, rampe (pandan leaves) and Maldives fish. Set it aside.
  2. Next, heat Astra on a hot pan. Add your mixture of beans, spices and other essential ingredients and keep tossing for few minutes until the beans have cooked halfway.
  3. Add coconut milk and tomatoes. Now, let it cook until fully done.
  4. Add seasoning according to your preference.
Eat your tempered beans with some plain rice and you are, pretty much, in cloud nine of happiness and joy.
